Abstract: The development and improvement of inservice courses in intructional computing has much to gain from the discussion in the mathematics education literature of theoretical orientations and evaluations of already implemented courses. This paper reports such an evaluation of a LOGO-based course for elementary and middle school teachers.; O desenvolvimento e a melhoria de cursos sobre o uso do computador na educação tem muito a ganhar com a discussão na literatura de educação matemática de orientações teóricas e avaliações de cursos já realizados. Este artigo relata a avaliação de um curso baseado em LOGO para professores do ensino básico.</description>

Abstract: Na sua prática, os profissionais da educação defrontam-se com inúmeros problemas, muitos dos quais de grande complexidade. Em vez de esperar por soluções vindas do exterior, muitos deles têm procurado investigar directamente esses problemas. Este texto discute as características de tal tipo de pesquisa. A discussão é ilustrada pelo percurso de um grupo de professores de Matemática de diversos níveis de ensino e formadores de professores desta disciplina e cuja base fundadora é o interaccionismo&#xD;
simbólico. No entanto, a proximidade entre sujeito e objecto coloca ao investigador que se debruça sobre a sua própria prática problemas específicos, distintos dos problemas com que lida o investigador que&#xD;
estuda culturas de matriz diferente da sua. O texto analisa este e outros problemas epistemológicos, metodológicos e éticos que envolvem este tipo de pesquisa e discute as suas potencialidades como forma de construção de conhecimento válido sobre educação.; In their practice, professionals of education face countless problems, some of which of high complexity. Instead of waiting for solutions coming from the outside, many of them are trying to research directly those problems. This paper discusses the features of such kind of research. The discussion is illustrated by the journey of a group of mathematics teachers and teacher educators from several school levels, based in symbolic interactionism. However, the proximity between subject and object rises to the researcher that studies his/her own practice specific problems, quite different from those that face the researcher that studies alien cultures. The paper analyses this and other epistemological, methodological, and ethical problems that are involved in this kind of research and discusses its potentialities as a form of construction of valid knowledge about education.</description>
