|Resumo:||This case study aimed to develop the creation process of the plastic artist, Joana Vasconcelos, an artist who interprets the reality through the analysis of some mentalities of iconographies of today society. Able to include her in a hyper modernistic esthetic line, following the opinion of Lipovestky (2007), the artist approaches in her work, the dialects between the erudite and popular culture, the public and private spheres, the tradition and the contemporary, challenging the contemporary art to develop new ways of exposition of the artistic object, confronting the classic space with the integration of the contemporary object, of collection, to conserve or creating. Though this study, the creative process of this artist, attend in a very detailed way to the study of creativity to proportionate a better comprehension of the cognitive, connotative, emotional and social mechanisms in the process of creation in a general way in this specific case. One of the factors that are part of the creativity identified by Guildford (1950) which highlights the difference between the common and the extraordinary is the originality, distinctive parameter of what considers creative of what is not creative. The originality in itself, will always be judged or rated having in function of the culture or community that creation is inserted, getting in a system of values and being exposed at all the social conjecture emergent. The methodology used searched for comprehension of the creator mind of this artist, trying to reveal steps that the finished work never shows, finding how the ideas come up and how they are materialized and become art, analysis made by a documental investigation of materials produced by the own artist, revealers of the product’s own processual character. Concluding, it was able to see the artist’s practice and also that her creativity is based on deconstruction of values, habits or costumes to question which the personal identity or to question the collective identity. It is based on the imaginary common , whether local or global. She adopts regularly as her prime-material pictures and objects related from the place that she lives or works, or the popular materials generally associated to women’s conditions, using techniques exclusively connected to the feminine world like the laces, the tricot and the sewing|
