Resumo: This dissertation presents the results of the action project “VIrVER A RUA”, conceptualised throughout the first year of the Master course in Museology and Museography of Faculdade de Belas-Artes, Universidade de Lisboa. The project has generated two editions, the first on 15th June, 2013 and the second on 26th July, 2014. Both actions were carried out in the historical centre of Santiago do Cacém, a town in the coast of Alentejo (Portugal), by the will, participation and sharing of its inhabitants and several local entities (public and private) that embraced this initiative, which has exceeded all expectations. The two interventions transformed a public setting into a place which conveys and produces knowledge and also refreshes individual and collective memories. Two parallel streets with more than 800 years of documented history unveiled other stories and ascended, for one day, to the position of museological place and object. The differences between Living in the Street and Living the Street are highlighted. For the right of everyone to enjoy Heritage, we enhance the awareness to the right to protect it. This leisure and touristic proposal, collaborative practice and educational activity led us to a reflection towards a community museological model. The ends are loosen in an open process which establishes connections, finds similitude in practices and legitimises principles. The contemporaneity of the Places of knowledge, where collective imaginaries of replacement are built in a movement towards turistification is indicated. A concrete past is overcome by dematerialisation. In the conceptual democratisation, value is meaningless in itself, thus it is dependent on the subjective impression, on the non-museumified musealisation and on the right to difference. That cultural kaleidoscope nurtures community sharing and Heritage education. Places of comfort with higher or lower touristic value witness the diversity and the mutuality of thinking about Another
