Abstract

These reflections have been developed around the issues raised when associating a particular place with the production of a set of art objects. In this case, the notion of site specific intertwines with that of the studio, and it is from this symbiosis between the specifics of a pre-determined place and that which is produced therein that the work Sala de Exposição is born, presupposing the physical appropriation of that place and its gradual destruction with a redemptive finality. The studio is seen as a place of transformation; a space where concepts are created and materials transformed. The resulting work has an ‘address’ but its recognition as a work requires the destruction of this link; by loosing its place it wins its audience. This need of the work to build new meanings and relations with the space in which it is exhibited changes the reading and meaning of the work on the one hand, but on the other hand intensifies its vitality by attributing to each viewer and each exhibition space a new web of meanings, a kind of nomadism that guarantees its eternity
