Teoria da relatividade combinatória: os espectaculos de John Cage, Merce Cunningham e Robert Rauschenberg

Abstract

A Teoria da Relatividade Combinatória apresenta uma análise aos espectáculos para os quais contribuem, nas décadas de cinquenta e sessenta, nos Estados Unidos da América, o compositor John Cage, o coreógrafo Merce Cunningham e o artista visual Robert Rauschenberg, defendendo: (1) a existência de uma estética comum para a multiplicidade combinatória dos acontecimentos por si construídos, e (2) um reenquadramento da relação autores-acontecimentos--espectadores, fundamentado nas diferentes ligações desencadeadas pelos espectáculos, da sua criação à sua recepção.

ABSTRACT: The thesis Teoria da Relatividade Combinatória [Theory of Combinatorial Relativity] analyses the 1950s and 1960s North-American performances resulting from the combination of events by the composer John Cage, the choreographer Merce Cunningham, and the visual artist Robert Rauschenberg. It proposes the existence of a common aesthetics underpinning the combinatorial multiplicity of their events, and reframes the relations between authors, events and spectators, from the conception to the reception of their performances.
