| Abstract: | The present essay tackles a project of Art Education entitled “Flower as Natural and Cultural Heritage” accomplished in Madeira island. This project has been developed in two stages: being the first essentially an approach to context and to the artistic experimentation itself, among six social institutions, whilst the second opened up to the community, displaying the tasks developed by the institutions who took part in the exhibit ECO FLOR. This opening has allowed to develop a critic sense on a basis of observation and fruition of numerous exhibits along with other artistic and cultural activities, namely with the project CORAÇÃO VERDE and Flower Exhibition, bringing the latter different perspectives around the themes: Flower and Garden.
All these somewhat intertwined perspectives under a common orientation line provided the island participants, an enriching experience with an ever increasing grasp of emotions and image repertoire. The project was developed with two different generations from different locations of Madeira Island. Its sole purpose was to explore various environmental issues, as for instance, Nature preservation, Natural and Cultural Heritage, Ecology and endogenous resources. The project also aimed at the development of artistic performances as a route to promote social integration. The results vividly display the vision of its participants about their garden island, throughout their artistic expression and their bond with Education, Nature and Art |
