O extenso conjunto
Cabeça de Vaiamonte (Monforte, Portalegre) presents itself as an emblematic archaeological site under the conquest and Romanization of the present Portuguese territory. The extensive artifactual set, deposited in the National Museum of Archaeology, result of the archaeological excavations carried out in the 50s of the 20th century, seems to fit in the proposal presented by Carlos Fabião for a military/ militarized occupation dated from the 1st quarter of the 1st century BC and most likely related to the period of Sertorian wars, finding marked similarities with the roman military camp of Cáceres el Viejo. This investigation aims an analysis of the material culture there exhumed, focused on the aspects of the "Romanization" of this territory, which have occurred through cultural and material elements conveyed by the Roman republican army that reflected not only Rome itself, but also the most varied cultural matrixes that composed the auxiliary troops that joined her.
