Abstract: The project in question is intent on presenting a set of drawings, accompanied by a report of their conception and respective analysis. Its underlying purpose, being that of building the groundwork for a future published work: an illustrated medieval fantasy novel. Thus, several topics will be approached in regards to its technical conception, as well as the ideology presented on its pictures, revealing the aspects that led to their current graphic style, and explaining the messages hidden behind the approached themes. As such, one could say this project gravitates towards concept art, applied to the literary methods, as it emphasizes the relationship between creativity and reality, and as such, approaches subjects like townscaping (as to build coherent backgrounds), up to the very psychology inherent to the shapes/stylistic choices employed, even encompassing the Historical references, which had been procured in order to further add to the authenticity and plausibility of the present elements. A grand total of 54 drawings has been achieved, some of which still displaying a more experimental nature, both in terms of their style, and in terms of the specific elements which are pertinent to the narrative (such as character design), while others showcase specific storyline events, coming closer to finished works. Consecutively, a report has been provided, starting by mentioning the motivations and decisions that led up to the currently displayed works, naming the set of factors that added up to spark their current style. As such, we analyze the drawings in their chronological order, looking towards not just clarifying the subjects and events on display, but also evaluating them, both individually, and as a complete set, naming both their triumphs and failures, and explaining how latter reflected upon the approach taken to following works. Lastly, a sample of the book's Prelude will be displayed, showcasing its planned presentation, in which we'll observe a set of 5 drawings, inserted into a small narrative excerpt.
